Amazon

Amazon is an eCommerce powerhouse these days but its roots go back firmly into its core category of Books and CDs. In the late 90's the world was awakened to the idea of buying books online. No other ecommerce store in history has had an impact on online web sales (not just books) as Amazon.

Australia's have yet to see Amazon launch a dedicated subsidiary and distribution centre (DC) in Australia but we are certainly lucky enough to have access to Amazon's amazing range of books and products. Not only can we order from the USA website (Amazon.com) but we can also order from UK and EU based Amazon stores with reasonable postage. Books direct from Amazon will generally cost $5-15 via Airmail postage and slightly dearer for express and expedited options.

Book Depository

BookDepository is one of the most popular online book stores for Australia customers. It host a massive library of books and its attraction to overseas customers has always been the free postage included in the price of books. Books can generally be found for cheaper at BookDepository then their rival Amazon Books (who in 2011 actually acquired Book Depository!).

Shipping from BookDepository generally comes from the USA or UK depending on which site you purchase from. Here is a books.net.au tip!: Check prices on both BookDepository.co.uk and BookDepository.COM as you generally find one or the other will be cheaper for your purchase.

Visitors to our site and from personal experience, shipping times will generally vary from 1 week upto 3 weeks which is pretty good considering the books do come from overseas. Packaging is in solid cardboard book packaging or bubblewrap book satchels and will arrive in perfect condition.
